User-Centered Design : ID Resource Center

[ User research : assembling the background knowledge by observing and analyzing user's behaviors. }

Duration : Aug. 2000~Dec. 2000
Class : Communication design, Team project
Instructor : Chris Edwards

Description
ID Resource Center project was developed by following the User-Centered Design process. This project explored linking information resources to foster the creation, distribution and consumption of organizational knowledge within the Institute of Design, IIT, IL. This project was focused on developing many iterative prototypes, learning and practicing methods for idea generation, rapid prototyping, user research and testing.

Major responsibility
user research
information architecture
interface and interaction design
prototyping in paper and HTML

Outstanding accomplishments
ID Resource Center was exhibited at the living surface conference by American Center for Design, Oct. 2000.

[ Conceptual work model : analyzing the organizational knowledge and finding problem through work models, such as flow, sequence, and cultural models. ]

[ User scenario prototype : Building scenario prototypes to generalize and explore ideas of different user types and needs based on the initial research. ]

[ Synthesizing and prioritizing problems, opportunities, and design issues. ]

[ Early paper prototyping : Developing various early prototypes to get user's feedback. ]

[ Usability testing : Evaluating and synthesizing concepts through the user testing to increase ease to use and effectiveness. ]

[ Implementation : Building final designs delivering essential knowledge coherently for solutions that fit well user's needs. ]
